Annual Tiger Booster Club Golf Tournament set for July 11

Registration for the 13th annual Rockdale Tiger Booster Club Golf Tournament is underway. The tournament and fish fry is scheduled for July 11. Entry fee is $75 per person, which includes a meal ticket. Additional meal tickets are $15. Participants must be 18 and older to play.

On Monday, Rockdale ISD released their summer 2020 Strength and Conditioning and Sports Specific Instruction workouts. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) required strict modifications for these workouts with detailed procedures for coaches, athletes and facilities.

THS softball players are some smart cookies

The Thorndale Lady Bulldog softball team proved that they were a dominant team not only on the field, but in the classroom as well. Out of the 18 players on the roster, 13 were named to the Academic-All District Team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.

UIL green lights summer workouts

The wait for high school sports is almost over. Starting on Monday, June 8, the UIL is allowing high schools to hold limited summer workouts. Sports have not been active since the UIL canceled all 2020 spring sports on April 17.

Hawkins gives an emotional goodbye at virtual sports banquet

Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Scott Hawkins, who will be leaving for the head coaching post at Liberty Hill, tried hard to hold back tears as he thanked the community of Thorndale for their support during the Thorndale High School virtual athletic banquet.

Softball on-again, offagain season, on again

After months of lost sport seasons, kids in Rockdale will get a chance at having the fun summer they wanted. On March 20, Texas Governor Greg Abbott stated that childcare facilities, summer camps and sports leagues could reopen.
