Summer workout schedule released

On Monday, Rockdale ISD released their summer 2020 Strength and Conditioning and Sports Specific Instruction workouts. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) required strict modifications for these workouts with detailed procedures for coaches, athletes and facilities.

13th annual Booster Club Golf Tournament slated for July 11

The Rockdale Tiger Booster Club has set its 13th annual Golf Tournament and Fish Fry for July 11. Entry fee is $75 per person, which includes a meal ticket. Additional meal tickets are $15. Golf cart fees should be paid to the Rockdale Country Club. Participants must be 18 and older.

THS softball players are some smart cookies

The Thorndale Lady Bulldog softball team proved that they were a dominant team not only on the field, but in the classroom as well. Out of the 18 players on the roster, 13 were named to the Academic-All District Team by the Texas High School Coaches Association.

UIL green lights summer workouts

The wait for high school sports is almost over. Starting on Monday, June 8, the UIL is allowing high schools to hold limited summer workouts. Sports have not been active since the UIL canceled all 2020 spring sports on April 17.

7-on-7 football remains canceled

For the first time since 1997, the Texas State 7-on-7 Organization will not hold its tournament this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision came days after the UIL canceled the remainder of the 2020 springs sport season.
