Seven RHS Lady Tigers receive district honors

Last week, seven members of the 2019 Rockdale Lady Tiger volleyball team earned District 19-3A awards. Freshman setter Yolianna Castillo was named Newcomer of the Year and senior Payton Miller was named to the first team.

Double-Header at RHS Rockdale High School’s Tiger Stadium will host a playoff double-header on Friday. First, RHS will host the TAPPS six-man Division I state semi-final game between Gainesville’s Lone Star North and Houston’s The Emery/Weiner School at noon.

No luck for RHS in bi-district

Luck wasn’t in Rock-dale’s favor Friday evening in Belton where the Tigers lost to Grandview 42-7 in a game RHS outgained the defending state champions 309-307 in total yardage but had seven turnovers.

Bulldogs bite Pirates, 58-23

For the second straight year, the Thorndale Bulldogs are bi-district champions thanks to a 58-23 victory over Center Point on Thursday evening at Llano Yellowjacket Stadium. The Bulldogs dominated right from the beginning building a 38-0 lead less than three minutes into the second quarter.

RCC holds night tourney

A Rockdale team made up of eight locals faced a group of seven Lexington players on Saturday at the Rockdale Country Club’s night tournament.

RHS girls earn all-state honors

Rockdale senior volleyball players Emily Depine, Payton Miller and Andrea Salazar were named to the Academic All-State second team this past week. The Lady Tiger trio were the only seniors on a 6-8 squad that barely missed out on the playoffs finishing fifth in District 19-3A this past season.

Tiger hoops get ready for Caldwell game Friday

With the 2019 football season to a close, that means the Rockdale Tiger basketball team had their full roster available when they traveled to Bartlett to beat the Bulldogs 48-41 in their season opener.
