Young Lady Tiger team struggles at Cedar Creek

Rockdale faced tough competition in Bastrop when they played in the Cedar Creek Tournament, which featured 32 teams primarily from classifications 5A and 6A. “We had some tough struggles,” said Brian Thomas, Lady Tiger assistant volleyball coach.

Gerren wins Rockdale Country Club annual tournament championship

Chris Gerren won the men’s division in last Saturday’s Rockdale Country Club annual club championship tournament. With a score of 149 he beat out 32 members competing in five different divisions. Jeff King was second on stroke behind Gerren. Chad Barcak won the men’s handicap shooting a 142.

Locklin stands out with KU Jayhawks

Rockdale High School graduate Torry Locklin saw his first action as a Jayhawk on Saturday, April 13, throwing 11 yards on five passes and scored once on a 38-yard touchdown run during the University of Kansas inner-squad scrimmage.

THS runners compete in Temple

Five Bulldogs and four Lady Bulldogs ran at the Temple Invitational on Friday, Aug. 16, to open the 2019 cross country season. Mason Drumm led the boys placing 20th with a time of 19:32.90. Ty Pesl placed 42nd with a time of 20:46.

County rivals come together

Rockdale and Cameron High School football players listened to a roster of speakers that included Milam County Judge Steve Young, Rep. Terry Wilson, Senator Charles Schwertner, Houston attorney Wayne Fisher and R.C. Slocum, who was the keynote speaker for the evening.

On Monday night, the RHS gymnasium was full of blue and gold for the annual Meet the Tigers social and cake auction hosted by the Rockdale Tiger Athletic Booster Club.

RHS fights to the end at tournament

Rockdale’s 4-3 record was good enough to finish second in the consolation bracket at their first tournament of the season this past weekend in Franklin. “I was pleased with the way we finished both days of the tournament,” Hudson said.
