Cross-country runners set to begin Thursday

Rockdale High School boys and girls cross country teams kickoff the 2019 season next Thursday, Aug. 1, with their first practice at 6:30 a.m. RHS lost four seniors to graduation but have a lot of young talent returning.

Pierre awarded medical fellowship to TTU-El Paso

Grant Sherrod Pierre, of Hutto, was awarded a fellowship by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with the El Paso Family and Community Medicine Sports Medicine Fellowship Program in El Paso.

Rockdale tracksters to run, throw at weekend Summer Games of Texas

Three Rockdale youngsters will be at the Summer Games of Texas this weekend in College Station starting Friday Jaylen Miles earned his way to College Station after battling a case of meningitis to win two gold medals in the 800-meter run and the 200-meter dash. He also won silver in the 400.

God answers bad times with grace

One of my favorite contemporary songs right now is “Do It Again” by Elevation Worship. It’s a song about the faithfulness of God. Sometimes I’m like the dad who said, “I believe but help me with my unbelief” (Mark 9:24). I’ve been struggling today.

Rockdale summer volleyball begins RHS hosted teams from Elgin, Snook and Mumford for the opening night of the Rock-dale Summer Volleyball League on Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers faced Elgin 2 and Snook 1 after press time. They face Elgin 2 again at 5:30p.m.

Tennis camp focuses on individual strength

This past week, Rock-dale student Ayden Reyes and Thorndale students Garrett and Ethan Schramm had the opportunity to learn back-to-past mixed doubles state champions Reyna Gonzalez and Devon Whitsel during the duo’s second annual summer tennis camp.

40th Rockdale Open on Saturday

The 40th annual Rockdale Open will be played on Saturday at Veterans Park. According to adult tournament director Sparky Thomason, there will be a round robin tournament for the men’s doubles and the mixed doubles. There are also two teams in the girls doubles.
