As district play continues, this week’s matchup between the Rockdale Tigers and the 2-3 Caldwell Hornets will be pivotal. With six of the seven teams in the 11-3A district having one district loss, a win for both teams would put them in great position in the standings.
RHS running back Cam’ron Valdez has cemented himself as one of the greatest Rockdale football players of all time. One week after breaking the alltime rushing record, Valdez now reigns as the touchdown king after breaking the all-time touchdown record on Friday against Cameron.
After three years of heartbreak, the bell returned home to Rockdale. The Tigers demolished the rival Cameron Yoemen 42-9. The Tigers are now 3-3 on the season.
Ever since I moved to Rockdale, everyone has spoken with me about the rivalry between Cameron and Rockdale. My coworkers and residents around town would tell me how big of a deal it was and how much the game meant to both towns.
The Rockdale Tigers reclaimed the traditional Victory Bell from the Cameron Yoemen Friday and did it in style. The 33-point margin of victory was the third highest for RHS in the long history of the bell battle, behind only 1967 (39 points) and 1963 (35 points).
