Country Club holds champ tournament Rockdale Country Club is holding a championship golf tourney on Aug. 17-18. The tourney will have divisions for women, men under 65, men ages 65-71 and the super senior division for players older than 72 years of age. Women, seniors and super seniors start at 8 a.

RHS football is back

Eighty-five young men came out for the Rockdale Tigers’ first practice of the 2019 season. “Honestly, I loved the intensity and I loved the effort,” said Jeff Miller, Rockdale High School head football coach and athletic director.

RHS runners try new method for training

Rockdale High School’s cross country team had 23 runners show up to the schools first practice last Thursday morning. Head Coach Cheryl Meuth said that her team is experimenting with a new training method for the 2019 season.

Different style of play for younger Lady Tigers

Rockdale High School head volleyball coach Kelsey Hudson was impressed with her young team’s first official outing of the 2019 season. “I thought it went well for our first time playing together,” Hudson said. “We played hard and we competed well.

Sportsmanship banquet, ‘Meet the Tigers’ this week

On Friday evening, the K.C. Hall will host the first ever Rockdale-Cameron sportsmanship banquet. According to Milam County Judge Steve Young, the banquet is an opportunity between the two neighboring communities. The banquet will have former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum as the keynote speaker.

Miles motivated for next Junior Olympics

Rockdale eight-year old Canaan Miles competed at AAU Junior Oympics this past week in Greensboro, N.C., where he finished 69th out of the 97 runners in the eight-and-under 400-meter run last Tuesday with a time of 1:19.65.

THS’s Casey signs with TAMU-Kingsville Javs In July, Thorndale High School senior Kate Casey signed her letter of intent to continue her softball career as a member of the Texas A&M University at Kings-ville Lady Javelinas following her graduation from THS in spring of 2020.
