RHS enjoys open date, to open district Friday

After a hot 4-0 start to their 2019 season, the Rockdale Tigers had the opportunity to stay off their feet last week before opening the District 10-3A schedule. That happen at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Manor New Tech in the Manor ISD Athletic Complex, 14832 FM 973. (Not at Manor New Tech High School.

Ring ceremony for state champs

The 2019 UIL Class 2A state track and field champions were honored at Milano High School’s pep rally this past Friday. Standing with their championship rings from left to right: Coach David Westrbrook, Devonte Jones, Parker Jones, Marquise Jones, Drew Demeritt, Christian Thurman and Gus Downey.

Rockdale schools AHS in tiebreaker

RHS got their second District 19-3 volleyball win on Friday night over Academy in a tiebreaker 18-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-14, 15-9. In their first win over the Lady Bees since 2017, Anna Harmon led Rockdale at the net with 11 kills.

300 competitors in Sunflower Run

Parker Jones (left) and Lisa Koenig (right) took part in the second annual Sunflower Run in Caldwell this past Saturday. The event features many activities and a 5K race that was won by 2019 MHS grad Parker Jones( left).

Bulldogs cage Cougars 63-0

With eight touchdowns in a blazing first half, THS shutout Rosebud-Lott 63-0 on the road this past Friday. In the first, the Bulldogs were boosted by two Kyle Northcott TD runs and a Michael Herzog touchdown to give THS a 22-0 lead.

Lions Club golf tourney Saturday

The Rockdale Lions Club will hold their annual golf tournament and helicopter golf ball drop on Saturday, Oct. 5. The tourney kicks off at 8:30 a.m., at the Rockdale Country Club. The entry fee per player is $65 which includes lunch, a cart and two mulligans that can be used at anytime.

Queen, king announced at Milano HS

Seniors Danny Cloud and Danni Shaw were named Milano High School Homecoming King and Queen during halftime at Friday night’s game at Pruitt Field. Cloud is a member of the Milano Eagle football team and Shaw plays on the Lady Eagle volleyball team.

Eagles can’t stop airborne Thrall attack

Milano had a hard time stopping Thrall’s quarterback Colter Hill, who threw for 257 yards and five of the Tigers’ seven touchdowns on Friday night. THS got an early advantage with a 20-0 lead at the close of the first quarter when Hill threw TD passes to Clayton Allen, Cayden West and Braeden West.

Rockdale Junior High teams sweep Robinson

All three Rockdale Junior High football teams emerged as victorious in their respective games against Robinson in their season opener at Tiger Stadium this past Thursday night. The eighth grade “A” got their second win of the season with a 38-8 blowout over the Rockets.
