Little league action ends in mid June

Four Rockdale Little League baseball teams are headed to district competition, after having competed in the Rockdale Youth Baseball League for the last three months. The Rockdale Rangers with a 7-3 record took second place in the RYBL T-ball division last week.

Rockdale hires two new coaches for the 2019-20 season

Rockdale High School athletes will begin their 2019-2020 season with two new faces heading up the boys basketball and girls volleyball teams. Coaches Marcus McNeil and Kelsey Hudson are joining the Tiger family.

State champs host tennis camp Two-time mixed doubles state tennis champions Reyna Gonzalez and Devon Whitsel are hosting the Second Annual Rockdale Tennis Summer Camp July 8-12 at Veteran’s Park on Murray Avenue. Camp is open to children ages 8 to 16 years old of all abilities.

AUSTIN – The Thorn-dale High School softball team’s state run ended with a three-hour red hot finale loss to No. 1 ranked Crawford. Lady Bulldogs, ranked second in state, ended the season as runner up in the UIL Class 2A State Championship at McCombs Field in Austin last Thursday.

Mudbuggin’ at the Rock

The Rockdale Tiger Athletic Booster Club held their 12th annual golf tournament and crawfish boil on Saturday at the Rockdale Country Club and raised more than $9,000 that will go towards equipment, events and scholarships for Rockdale athletes.

Five Tigers make all-district team Five members of the Rockdale Tiger baseball team received District 19-3A honors this past week. Zac Davis was voted to the first team as a pitcher and future Centenary College teammate Ryker Zinn also made the top team as an outfielder.

Thorndale High School’s most dominant team in the school’s history is headed to the UIL 2A State Softball tournament, after mercy ruling perennial power house Weimar 21-6, 14-4 in the Region IV finals last week.
