Thorndale athletes ready to take on competition

Thorndale High School athletes Corey Preusse, Hannah Laurence and Michael Herzog will compete at the UIL Class 2A track and field championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on Saturday. For Preusse and Laurence, this will be their final high school track meet.

Rockdale 7-on-7 wins two games in Lexington

Area baseball game will be a dog and cat fight

Rain clouds may make another appearance in Brazos County for the Thorn-dale Bulldog baseball team on Thursday. Last week, Thorndale swept the Brazos Cougars 9-0 and 2-1 in bi-district round of the playoffs underneath the threat of rain at Bryan High School.

Lady Bulldogs up against Shiner in 2A regional quarterfinals

Thorndale has a chance to seek revenge on Shiner this weekend in Wimberley after falling to the Lady Comanches in last season’s Region IV quarterfinal game 3-2. Shiner is ranked No. 2 in 2A competition, while Thorndale holds the No. 3 spot in 2019 Texas Girls Coaches Association Softball Poll.

Booster club golf tourney rescheduled Due to heavy rainfall in the area, the Rockdale Tiger Booster Club Golf Tournament and Crawfish Boil was moved to Saturday, June 1. Entry fee for players is $100 per person and $25 for additional meal tickets. Carts will cost $10 per person.

Alvie King retires after 20 years

King of basketball Long time basketball coach Alvie King will retire from the Milano Independent School District at the close of the 2018-2019 school year after more than 20 years with the school. King, who grew up in Milano, says being a part of MISD is something he has held in high regard.
