Wa ter l i g h t l y stained; 87 degrees; 1.45 feet below pool. Black bass are good up the river fishing worms and crankbaits around timber. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows fished in 4-8 feet of water. White bass are good on road beds and humps, but most catches are undersized.

HERE COME THE TIGERS

The Class 3A Rockdale Tigers coming out on to the field Friday in Jarrell before their first scrimmage of the year. The Tigers fought the 4A Cougars to a 2-2 stalemate at Cougar Stadium. This week Rockdale will host another 4A team, the Robinson Rockets, in their first home scrimmage.

FISHING REPORT

Granger SLOW. Water lightly stained; 84 degrees; 1.10 feet below pool. Black bass are slow. Crappie are good on 1/32 ounce jigs tipped with Berkley Crappie Nibbles. White bass are fair on Slab spoons fished over humps. Blue catfish are good on shad drift fished in 25 to 30 feet of water.

Jesus Bocanegra’s Cross Country cake sold to Rollo Insurance for $300 and, below, Maddie Brinkman’s Tiger Cheer cake sold for $200 to Randy and Suzanne Levy.

Back for third tour; a talk with Hamrick

BLEEDING BLUE AND GOLD I’m back and I’m in a new season. I’m on my third tour of Rockdale and Jennifer (the Blonde) and I are very excited about being back. Everyone may not know me, so let me introduce myself. I’m an old Rockdale Tiger (Class of 1982) and I bleed blue and gold. Go Tigers!

Meet the Tigers

The 2023 Rockdale Tigers practiced prior to the Meet the Tigers event Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Cheerleaders and Golden Girls were all smiles at the Meet the Tigers event Saturday.

‘Meet the Tigers’ set for Saturday

The “Meet the Tigers” event will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Tiger Stadium.

SPORTS BRIEFS

Thorndale athletes selected All-State The Texas Sportswriters Association selected Raeghan Carlson for All-State honors in softball. For baseball, Kaden Kovar and Coy Stutts were both recognized as well. ‘Decals with Dad’ scheduled for Aug.

SUMMER CAMPS CONCLUDE

The final two sports camps of the summer finished up last week. The coaches from Rockdale Athletics put on two-day camps for football and volleyball. The football camp (above) included boys from first through ninth grade and had over 40 participants.
