Tiger soccer earned their second straight win on Thursday evening, avenging an early-season loss to Hearne with a 2-0 shutout over the Eagles on their own field . Jose Tenorio and Daniel Castillo both scored for the Blue-and-Gold. The win comes after taking down Smithville 4-3 last Monday.

RJH ‘8A’ places second in district standings Rockdale’s eighth grade “A” team ended their season with a 39-26 loss in Academy this past Thursday. De’Andre Nunn led the Tigers with 13 points while Brody Willard and Jaylen Ramey each had 4. Alex Cooper had 3 and Stephen Goodrich scored 2.

Bartsch picked for all-state squad

Lady Tiger junior Julie Bartsch was named to the Texas Sportswriters Associaton’s All-State third team on Saturday. Bartsch was an instrumental part of the Blue-and-Gold’s success this season, particularly after senior hitter Haven Jimenez suffered a season-ending injury on Sept. 24.

Tiger alum named coach in Austin

Last week, Rockdale High School Class of 1999 graduate Donald Hatcher was named head football coach at Anderson High School in Austin. “It’s exciting,” Hatcher told the Austin American-Statesman.

Blue-and-Gold gets first district win

Rockdale Tiger soccer team snapped their six-game losing streak on Monday evening when they took down visiting Smithville 4-3 thanks to a pair of goals from both Daniel Castillo and Marvin Mata. RHS also battled Caldwell in the cold early Saturday afternoon, falling 4-0 to the Hornets.

Rockdale golfers compete at Lago Vista

RHS golf teams went out west to Lago Vista on Tuesday where the Tigers finished sixth out of eight teams and the Lady Tigers placed third out of three teams. Leading the boys was sophomore Carson Eoff, who shot a 104 while senior Jake Hasselbach finished the day right behind Eoff with a 105.

RJH eighth-grade teams win in Rogers Rockdale Junior High’s eighth-grade basketball teams both earned road wins on Thursday night in Rogers. The eighth grade “A” team won their game 28-18, with De’Andre Nunn’s 17 points leading the way for the Tigers.

Sting operation In August, a concerned citizen contacted Montgomery County game wardens regarding a neighbor keeping an alligator in his back yard. The wardens responded to the home where the alligator was reportedly kept.
